Documents accumulate pages that do not belong in every copy: a cover sheet from a fax, a blank separator between scanned batches, an internal pricing appendix in a contract that is going to the other side. Removing them produces a document you can send without a covering explanation.
This is the counterpart of extracting pages. Extraction is the right tool when you want a small piece of a long document; removal is the right tool when you want almost all of it.
