A scanned PDF is just a picture of a page: you cannot search it, select its text, or copy a sentence into another document. Running OCR recognizes the words in the image and adds an invisible, extractable text layer over each page, so the file looks the same but behaves like a real document.
OneClickPDF uses Tesseract for recognition and Poppler for page rendering, entirely server-side. English recognition at launch.
Many PDFs mix real, already-searchable pages with scanned inserts, for example a signed contract page dropped into a Word export. OCR only processes the pages that actually need it.
